Reference: On April 13, 2025, the Russian army launched a missile attack on the center of Sumy, killing 35 people. Eighth-grader Kirill Ilyashenko, a student of Sumy School No. 4, was traveling with his mother to visit his grandmother when he was hit by a missile. The young man oriented himself in the situation, jumped out the window of the mangled bus and opened the door, saving his mother and the passengers who survived the explosion. Kirill himself was wounded by three pieces of shrapnel in the head and underwent surgery. He received the presidential award “The Future of Ukraine”.
