The video shows the children's and youth dance studio “Happy Childhood”, Mykola Kolomiets' office, his portrait, his studies in the dance class; black and white footage of the Russian city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1941; Mykola Kolomiets awards children with studio diplomas; footage of post-war St. Petersburg.

Interviews: Olha Pobezhymova, director of the Happy Childhood Studio; Olha Zhemchuzhna-Yatsenko, artistic director of the Ukraine Ensemble; Olha Melnyk, daughter of Mykola Kolomiets; Kyrylo, grandson.

Part of the film is in Russian. Materials from the Pshenychnyi Central State Film and Photo Archive of Ukraine and fragments of performances by the “Ukraina” ensemble were used.

Reference: Mykola Kolomiets is a Ukrainian choreographer. He was born on August 10, 1942, in the village of Drabove (now a village in Cherkasy region). He graduated from the Kyiv Folk Choreographic School and worked in the dance ensemble of the Kyiv Military District. In 1969 he created the ensemble “Happy Childhood”, and in 1992 he opened a children's and youth dance studio of the same name on its basis, and the ensemble received a new name - “Ukraine”. In 1995, the ensemble was awarded the title of People's.

In 1994, Mykola Kolomiets was also awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. He died on June 17, 2009, and was buried at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.
