One of the active figures of the Ukrainian national movement of the late 1980s — early 1990s, a member of the People's Movement of Ukraine. Participant in the publication "Ukrainian Herald", a public opponent of the Soviet regime. In 1991, he became the only one who had a video camera with access to the Verkhovna Rada and recorded unique footage: the proclamation of Ukraine's independence and the introduction of the blue-yellow flag into the parliament.
