Reference: The 2008 flood in the Carpathian Region became one of the largest environmental disasters in the history of the region, caused by intense thunderstorms and rising water levels in the Carpathian rivers. As a result of the natural disaster, thousands of residential buildings were flooded, bridges and roads were destroyed, and 30 people died. As of 2009, the region continued to eliminate the consequences of the flood, in particular by building new housing and infrastructure.
