Reference: On July 22, 2014, Sievierodonetsk was liberated from pro-Russian militants. The liberation took place after fighting as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). The battle for Sievierodonetsk and the neighboring towns of Rubizhne and Lysychansk lasted from May to July 2014.
