Reference: Ukraine's participation in the peacekeeping mission in Iraq lasted from 2003 to 2005 and was one of the largest in the multinational force led by the United States. In December 2005, after a phased withdrawal of troops, Ukraine completed its operation, which included the participation of about 1,600 servicemen, stationed mainly in Wasit province. For the successful completion of tasks, some of the Ukrainian peacekeepers were awarded state decorations, in particular the orders and medals "For Merit" and "For Courage".
