Reference: “Rise up, Ukraine!” — large-scale protests by Ukrainian opposition forces in the second half of 2002 and early 2003. The main goal was the early resignation of Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma and the holding of new presidential elections.

The main events of the protests took place on September 15–17, 2002, in Kyiv. Protesters set up a tent camp near the Presidential Administration. It was later dispersed by the police. This led to a political crisis, the consolidation of the opposition, and at the same time a tougher course by the authorities, who shifted to a more active orientation towards Russia.
