Reference: The Lviv landfill for solid waste in the village of Velyki Hrybovychi is the main garbage disposal site in Lviv, which has been operating since 1960 and for decades has been characterized by critical overload and environmental risks. Despite repeated discussions of the reclamation project and the construction of a waste processing plant in the 1990s–2000s, systematic modernization measures were not implemented, which led to an increase in technogenic hazards. The untimely implementation of reclamation works was one of the factors that later contributed to the occurrence of a large-scale fire and collapse at the landfill in 2016.
