Reference: The Berdychiv Icon of the Mother of God is one of the main centers of Roman Catholic pilgrimage in Ukraine, which since 1753 has had the official status of a crowned miraculous icon, granted by the Holy See. Pilgrimages to the sanctuary of the Discalced Carmelites in Berdychiv take place twice a year — on July 16, the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Scapular, and on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, when believers come to the icon for healings and spiritual graces. The shrine is considered the patron saint of Polissya and is revered not only by Roman Catholics, but also by Orthodox and Greek Catholics.
