Funeral of aviators from Melitopol, 1998

A report about a farewell ceremony for aviators who died in a plane crash. A room with coffins, relatives and colleagues bring flowers, a priest conducts a memorial service at the cemetery. Commentary by the deputy commander of the military transport division, V. Pavlyuk.

Reference: On July 13, 1998, a Ukrainian military transport aircraft Il-76MD (UR-76424), which was performing a cargo flight, crashed near Ras al-Khaimah (UAE). On board were a crew of 8 military aviators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (25th Transport Aviation Brigade). All died after losing control of the aircraft immediately after takeoff. The cause of the crash was the overloading of the aircraft and difficult takeoff conditions (high temperature and reduced flight characteristics).
