Reference: Nyzhnya Syrovatka is a village in the Sumy region, located on the left bank of the Syrovatka River near its confluence with the Psel. The village was founded in 1659 as a Cossack settlement of the Sumy Regiment, and among the famous figures associated with it are the entrepreneur and philanthropist Ivan Kharitonenko and the writer Borys Grinchenko, who taught here in 1884–1885. During the russian invasion of 2022, the village suffered destruction of infrastructure and residential buildings, but by the end of the spring of that year it was liberated from russian occupation.
