An evening in memory of Oleksandr Bilash at the Teacher's House in Kyiv, March 13, 2013. The event was organized by scholar Halyna Laktionova and the composer's daughter Olesia Bilash. In honor of the memory of Oleksandr Bilash, his works were performed.
Oleksandr Bilash was a Ukrainian composer, People's Artist and Hero of Ukraine. He was born on March 6, 1931, in the village of Hradyzk, Poltava region, to an accountant and a rural worker. In 1948, he entered the Zhytomyr Music School, and in 1957 graduated from the Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory.
Since 2000, he has been a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine. In 1965, he composed the opera "The Haidamaks" based on the poem of the same name by Taras Shevchenko.
The composer's works include songs: "Ash Trees", "White Swans", "Smereka", "Oh, High Mountain", "Two Colors". He composed music for the films "Dream", "Roman and Francesca", "Katya-Katyusha", "Dangerous Tour". He died on May 6, 2003 in Kyiv after a stroke.
