Reference: The Grokholskys are a Polish count family. Magnate Adolf Grokholsky bought these lands, founded a park here, and completely built the castle itself in 1851. Initially, it was his residence.

The Tereshchenkos are a world-famous dynasty of Ukrainian sugar manufacturers, industrialists, and philanthropists. After the death of Adolf Grokholsky, the estate passed to his second wife, who later sold Chervone and the surrounding lands to Mykola Artemiyovych Tereshchenko. His family owned the palace until the 1917 revolution.
