“Veselyi zamok” 1999

In the video: TV announcer Iryna Haidamaka announces that the program “Veselyi Zamok” will be replaced by the documentary “Yilesev Komaz” due to technical issues. Host Oksana Savchak explains that this is an April Fools’ Day prank, announces a contest, and introduces the judging panel. The program features contests and theatrical skits based on the works of Nikolai Gogol. Participants take on the roles of characters such as Oksana and Mykola, Panasykha and Panas, Solokha and Chuba. Marta Kostytska, a student at the Lviv Academic Gymnasium, performs the song “The Jazz-Playing Turkey” by Volodymyr Polyansky. Next come a hairstyle contest and a riddle contest, and the participants take part in search challenges. A group of Amazons performs a song, and Levko Durko sings April Fools’ Day songs. Yevhen Fedorchenko tells jokes and reads short stories. Contestants answer questions about what they would do if they became principals of their schools. Announcement of the winners, award ceremony, closing credits.

Participants in the program included: students of the Lviv Academic Gymnasium, Principal Volodymyr Starchevsky, and homeroom teacher Olga Huk.
