The Oberegy program: a conversation with ethnographer, cultural expert, and friend of Vasyl Symonenko, Volodymyr Danileiko.

The program includes excerpts from archival video recordings by Alla Markaryan and Sergei Zhmurenko, as well as excerpts from the films Leopold or Escape from Freedom, Picturesque Ukraine, Boim Chapel, Sofiyivka. Lyubov-Sofia,“ ”In Search of Happiness,“ ”Cultural Heritage,“ and excerpts from the songs ”Silence All Around,“ ”Mother of God, Defender of the Faithful," “Oh, Fog in the Ravine,” “Drink, Brothers, Drink,” performed by the trio “Marenychi,” the bands ‘Hulyaygorod’ and “Khoria Kozatska,” as well as the composition “I've Met Somebody. I've Not Seen for Ages.”

Reference: Volodymyr Danyleiko was born on August 9, 1930, in the village of Demyna Balka, Poltava region. He studied at the Faculty of Philology at Kharkiv University, and later at Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv.

He is the founder of the ethnographic group “Orta” and the initiator of the establishment of the Lviv Municipal Men's Choir “Gomin.” He is known for introducing Ukrainian traditional customs and rituals and organizing caroling in Kyiv, Lviv, and Poltava.
