Nikanor Onatskyi was a landscape painter, traveler, Shevchenko scholar, and author of scientific works: "Ukrainian Porcelain", "Mezhyhiria Faience", "Ukrainian Gutnytsia Glass", organizer of the Sumy Art and History Museum, who was shot for subversive museum activities qualified as nationalist and counter-revolutionary.
