Reference: Mykhailo Ivasyuk was a Ukrainian writer, literary critic, teacher, public and cultural figure, and the father of Volodymyr Ivasyuk. He was born on November 25, 1917, in the town of Kitsman. In 1964, he began teaching at Chernivtsi University at the Department of Ukrainian Literature. For his writing, he was awarded the Dmytro Zahul Literary Prize (1992) and the Sydor Vorobkevych Literary and Art Prize (1993).
Mykhailo Ivasyuk died on February 5, 1995 in Chernivtsi. He was buried at the Ruske Cemetery.
In 1998, the Chernivtsi Regional Scientific Library was named after Mykhailo Ivasyuk.
