For reference: Huta Penyatska is a village with a significant majority of Polish population that existed on the territory of the modern Brody district of Lviv region. The name of the village comes from two words: “Huta” - a glassmaking trade, and “Penyatska” - the name of the ancient village of Penyaki, located nearby. On February 28, 1944, all 172 houses in the village were destroyed, and the local residents were killed (according to various estimates, from 500 to 800 people, including women and children).
