Chemical Battalion: Military Exercises

Reference: On December 27, 2002, at the military airfield of Novyi Kalynov, in the Lviv region, tactical and special exercises were held with the newly formed 19th separate battalion of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the general leadership of the deputy commander of the troops of the Western Operational Command, Lieutenant General Valery Frolov. During the exercises, involving almost 600 military personnel and 170 pieces of equipment, the RCB Defense Battalion confronted a simulated terrorist group that had seized a facility using chemical weapons, conducting reconnaissance and degassing of contaminated areas.
