Protest action “No to the development of Honchar Square!”

Reference: In 2006, protests were held in Kyiv against the development of Literary Square on the corner of Oles Honchar and Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi streets. The public demanded that the square be given the status of a monument of urban planning and history and culture, that its boundaries be fixed, that the lease agreements with the developer not be extended, and that the territory be transferred to the balance of “Kyivzelenbud”. The protests became part of a broader movement of Kyiv residents for the preservation of the historical environment of the central part of the city.
