G. Shevchenko.

1000th anniversary of the Volyn Eparchy

Lutsk, 1995. Volyn television. The first part of the program "Life — is an anecdote" highlights the first anecdote festival in Lutsk. The festival takes place in the Volyn Regional Music and Drama Theater.

Festival participants take turns telling jokes at the stage "ring". Among them are — Kost Volynyak (Feodosiy Mandzyuk), editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Viche" Vasyl Prostopchuk and Valery Marenich. The festival ends with the awarding of the participants, the main prize is a live piglet.

"Life — is a joke": a festival of jokes in Lutsk 

Lutsk, July 16, 1995. The program "Poliske Summer with Folklore" highlights the official opening of the Second International Dance Festival "Polish Summer with Folklore".

During the opening, the director of the festival Yuriy Voynarovsky, the head of the Volyn regional state administration Borys Klimchuk, the deputy president of the Western European section of the festival and folklore Edward Blazek, the burgomaster of the city of Wlodawa Tadeusz Hander, the organizer of the festival in Poland Janusz Kalinowski, the head of the National Commission for the Return of Cultural Values to Ukraine under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Fedoruk and Deputy Chairman of the Lutsk City Council of People's Deputies Svyatoslav Kravchuk.

After the official part, the festival participants present dance and music-choreographic numbers. On the stage: dance ensemble of the Lutsk People's House "Prosvita" — "Volynyanochka", ensemble "Dzhanavak" from India, children's folk dance ensemble of primary school №1 in the city of Svidnyk, collective from Israel, folk dance ensemble "Divotsvit", song and dance ensemble "Slavutich" from Kremenchuk, ensemble "Radist", folk music and dance ensemble "Poenita" from Moldova, folk dance ensemble "Polyssia" from the city of Wlodawa, Poland, as well as honored amateur song and dance ensemble "Kolos" from Ukraine.

Festival "Poliske summer with folklore": Lutsk, 1995

July 15, 2006, Lutsk. The film tells about the history of the development of Lutsk from ancient times to the present. It traces the formation and changes of the city in different historical periods, its cultural and architectural development. Particular attention is paid to modern Lutsk, its urban environment and industry. Historical and modern objects of the city, architectural monuments, streets and landscapes of Lutsk, industrial enterprises are shown.

Author and director Vitaly Gerasimlyuk, cinematographer Valery Fetysov worked on the film.


Lutsk: past and present, 2006

1997. Volyn Television.

The program “800 Years of the Town of Kolky: The Phoenix of Polissya” is dedicated to the history of one of the oldest settlements in the Volyn Polissya region. The program recounts the first historical mentions and the founding of Kolky, located on the right bank of the Styr River; the history of three fires from which the town was rebuilt; and its attainment of city status following the introduction of Magdeburg Law. It also discusses the princely town of Romaniv, which existed on the territory of modern-day Kolky, and its spiritual center—the church. The program also tells the story of Zoya Nelidova, who was known as the “beauty queen” of pre-war Poland and is buried in the cemetery in Kolky. The program is based on materials from the State Archives of the Volyn Region, publications by Volodymyr Rozhok, and excerpts from the feature film “Danylo Halytskyi.”

In the video: views of Kolok, nature, the town’s streets, the Styr River, a road, a church, a bonfire, a charred tree, bells, a blacksmith at work, and town residents. Archival footage, documents, and photographs are shown.

“Phoenix Polissya”: The History of the Village of Kolky

Volyn Television, 1993. The program "In Memory of the Victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine" covers a prayer service for the victims of the Holodomor in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the memories of an immigrant from the Poltava region about his family and fellow villagers who died during the Holodomor.

On the video: a prayer service in the Holy Trinity Cathedral; a sermon by Bishop Seraphim of Volyn and Lutsk of the UOC-KP; parishioners; an interview with Hryhoriy Gurtov, a teacher at Torchyn Secondary School in Lutsk District (a native of Poltava Oblast), about his experiences during the Holodomor; fragments of a 20th-century newsreel.

In memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine

1996. Volyn Television. The program “Sprouts of Hope” covers the final concert of the citywide talent competition for students in Lutsk.

The video features performances by students and artistic groups from city schools, including vocal, dance, and musical numbers. The “Dzhereltsia” ensemble from Specialized Secondary School No. 25 performs “Hutsul Dance,” and the choir from Specialized Secondary School No. 16 sings “Good Day, to You, Good People,” and the vocal duet of Oleksandr Onyskovets and Anna Hordiychuk from Specialized General Education School No. 21 performs “Trumpets Behind the Mountain.” The dance group from Gymnasium No. 4 presents the Italian folk dance “Tarantella,” and Yulia Tarasyuk from Specialized Secondary School No. 10 sings “Plant the Kalina.” The concert continues with the orchestra of the “Dyvotsvit” folk ensemble from Gymnasium No. 14, performing a medley of folk melodies; the “Romantic” dance troupe from Gymnasium No. 18, performing “Vesele Rendezvous”; Victoria Zhukovska from Specialized Secondary School No. 5, and the show group from the dance studio of Specialized Secondary School No. 26 with the stage dance “The Vagabond.” Rounding out the list of performances is a vocal group of second-grade students from Specialized General Education School No. 22 with the song “Fluffy Sunflowers.”

Zankovetska (now the Maria Zankovetska National Drama Theater) to Lutsk with the ironic melodrama “The Triumphant Woman” by Lviv writer Nadiya Kovalik, directed by Fedir Stryhun.
